Tired of buying expensive (and sometimes bland) almond butter from a grocery store? Learn how to make almond butter at home using just a blender and 3 ingredients!
Spread out your almonds in a single layer on a sheet pan and roast them for about 10 minutes.
Allow them to cool completely, then add the roasted almonds to a blender.
Blend them for several minutes until they have a very smooth and creamy consistency.
Be sure to scrape down the sides of the blender intermittently to help it all come together.
Add in your coconut oil and blend some more.
Add your salt at the end and adjust to your taste.
If you want to add in something else right at the end, feel free to do so.
Refrigerate in a glass jar.
Notes
This recipe makes one cup of almond butter. One serving is 2 tablespoon which contains 4 net carbs.
Depending on the type of blender you have, it might begin to heat up. If this happens, pause for about a minute or two till it cools down, then resume blending.
It is best to add coconut oil when using a regular blender because it helps it blend more smoothly. You don't have to add it when using a high-powered blender, but I include it because I personally like the silky texture it gives the almond butter.
Don't skip roasting the almonds; this helps it release its oils and blend to a really creamy, silky texture. It also helps the blender blades move more efficiently.
Make sure your roasted almonds are completed cooled before blending.
