    ❤️ Why you'll love it

This fish seasoning is incredibly versatile and is a great addition to the spices in your pantry. You can use it to season different kinds of fish or seafood like sea bass, white fish, salmon fish fillets, shrimp, or scallops.

This fish seasoning mix is a time saver when making your fish dinner. Depending on how much fish I'm making, I scoop up a teaspoon or two to season my fish, and I'm good to go!

This homemade spice rub is also much healthier than fish seasoning from the grocery store. I like to make my own spice blends because I use fresh, all-natural ingredients and don't have to worry about added preservatives, artificial flavors, or additives like monosodium glutamate (MSG).

dried oregano, cayenne pepper and other spices

Here are the spices to make this easy fish seasoning blend.

    • Ground ginger: You need just a bit of this to add a little kick to this seasoning.
    • Black pepper: This is a staple in any dish!
    • Garlic powder: This versatile spice is excellent on seafood.
    • Smoked paprika: This adds a smokey and spicy flavor to your fish.
    • Cayenne pepper: A small amount of cayenne is a great way to add heat to seafood dishes. You can increase or reduce the amount of cayenne pepper if you wish.
    • Lemon pepper: This adds a fresh, lemony flavor which is a delicious addition to fish.
    • Dried oregano: This adds an earthy flavor and aroma.
    • Salt: You can use sea salt, kosher salt, or your favorite table salt.

🔪 How To Make This Recipe

    1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
    2. Store the mix in an airtight container for future use.
    3. Use 1-2 teaspoons for each fish fillet.
    4. Season your favorite fish, and enjoy!

    🥫 Storing and Reheating

I like to make a big batch of this seafood rub and store it in an airtight jar in a cool and dry place. It would be best if you tightly seal the container to ensure that moisture does not enter, which can cause it to spoil.

Storing the fish seasoning away from direct sunlight and heat is a good idea, so the shelf life of your spice mix is not reduced.

    💭 Tips and Variations

    • If you're not a fan of spicy flavors, you can leave the cayenne pepper out of this recipe.
    • Alternatively, increase the cayenne pepper quantity if you want spicy fish seasoning.
    • You can add fresh herbs like thyme, dill, parsley, or cilantro for more flavor.
    • Add some acidic flavors by adding a splash of lemon juice or some lemon zest to the fish before cooking.

The seasoning was too salty and I would recommend just 1/2 tsp of salt.
