This keto spicy sausage dip is an amazing appetizer for hangouts, potlucks, or game day. It's a meaty, cheesy delight that is incredibly easy to make!

cream cheese keto dip with celery

This spicy dip is always a hit whenever I make it. It makes a quick and easy weeknight snack everyone in your house will love. It's so hard to stop at one serving once you taste it. Luckily, one serving is quite low in calories and carbs, so you can easily double up your servings guilt-free!

This spicy sausage dip is made with just a few common household ingredients but really packs a lot of flavors. It's very possible you have all the ingredients in your pantry right now, so you have got to try this. It's one of those recipes that is really hard to mess up!

    Ingredients Used

    • Ground sausage:  I use 1lb of ground sausage, but this recipe can easily be scaled up or down. You can also use ground turkey or ground pork. The taste will be slightly different, but it will still taste just as good!
    • Cream cheese: Use your favorite brand but make sure there are no added sugars or cornstarch. Let it soften at room temperature before adding to the dip to get a nice smooth consistency.
    • Can of diced tomatoes: This adds a nice tang, texture, and color to the dip.
    • Spices: Cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt.
    • A little olive oil.

    How To Make This Recipe

    1. Add a little olive oil to a large pan, then add the ground sausage. Break it apart as it browns. Add the cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt as it cooks.
    2. Once the sausage is fully cooked, if there is any excess liquid, drain it off. The brand of ground sausage I used barely had any liquid, but yours may have, depending on its brand.
    3. Put your pan back on the stove. Add cream cheese and diced tomatoes to the ground sausage mixture. I like to cut the cream cheese into large cubes before I add them. Do not drain the diced tomatoes.
    4. Stir until your cream cheese is smooth and fully incorporated. Taste for salt and adjust. I add a little more cayenne pepper here because I like mine spicy. Simmer on medium heat for a few minutes, so the flavors really meld together.

    Storing and Reheating

To store your spicy sausage dip, pour it into an airtight container and store it in the fridge for about 3 days.

You can also freeze any leftover spicy sausage dip. Store it in an airtight container and enjoy it within a month for optimal freshness.

To reheat, you can use a microwave or reheat it on the stove. I prefer using the stove because it retains some of the moisture. Using a microwave can dry it out a bit.

What Can I Eat This Recipe With?

Sausage cheese dip is such a fun appetizer or snack. You can use it anytime you need a creamy, delicious dip. Try it with keto tortilla chips, cucumber, blackened shrimps, or some celery.

    Tips and Variations

    • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature. If you need to defrost it quickly, place the cream cheese foil packaging in warm water for a few minutes. You can also microwave the cream cheese in bursts of 10 seconds till it is softened.
    • You can add additional aromatics like scallions, onions, or garlic, for more flavor. Simply sauté these ingredients before you add the sausage to get some nice caramelization.
    • I added just a bit of cayenne pepper to make it spicy. You can add more or less or even omit it altogether.
    • You can add some additional toppings, like seeds, nuts, bacon, or your favorite veggies.
