    ❤️ Why you'll love it

Instead of boiling hot dogs on the stovetop, add them to your Instant Pot and let them pressure cook to perfection! This is the very best way to prepare hot dogs, and you'll be shocked at how quickly this hot dogs recipe goes - you set the cook time to 0 minutes! This easy recipe is so fast you'll be hooked on this method the first time you try it!

To make these delicious hot dogs, you need just a few simple supplies you likely already have on hand, including an Instant Pot pressure cooker (or your favorite electric pressure cooker), Instant Pot trivet, tongs, and a plate or serving dish.

    🧾 Ingredients Used

    • Hot Dogs: Choose your favorite type of hot dog. I recommend sugar-free, all-beef hot dogs.
    • Water: You need just enough water to create the right amount of steam and pressure. That's it!

🔪 How To Make This Recipe

    1. Arrange the hot dogs neatly in the instant pot basket for even cooking.
    2. Pour a cup of water into the pressure cooker.
    3. Switch the instant pot to manual mode, setting the timer to 0 minutes.
    4. Once it beeps, turn the knob to the venting position, allowing that pressure to quick release.
    5. Remove the hot dogs from the instant pot. Serve with your favorite sides or garnishes.

    🥫 Storing and Reheating

Store any leftover hot dogs in an airtight container in the fridge. They will last for 3-4 days. To reheat, add a small amount of water to a saucepan and place it on the stove top over medium heat. Add the cooked hot dog and cover. Allow it to steam for a few minutes, then remove and enjoy.

    💭 Tips and Variations

    • Try other varieties of precooked sausages, like frankfurter sausages or chicken and apple sausages. Since they are all precooked just like hot dogs, they're perfect for really easy meals.
    • If you have more time, you can also make hot dogs using the sautee function and your instant pot lid.
    • If you don't have a trivet, you can try using a steamer basket instead.
    • Not in a rush? Pop your hot dogs into a slow cooker with water and let them slowly cook until warmed through.
    • Pro tip: Use chicken stock or season the water with spices like garlic powder, smoked paprika, or chili powder for great flavor.
    • For the perfect hot dog, start by cooking just 8 at a time. After the first batch is done, add new hot dogs and repeat the process to feed a large crowd.

🍽️ What can I eat this recipe with?

These perfectly cooked hot dogs are a party favorite; you just need a hot dog bun, ketchup, mustard, and a variety of toppings! You can make chili dogs or even hot dog chili with ground beef and beans!

    👩‍🍳 Frequently asked questions

What is the best type of hot dogs to cook in the Instant Pot?

You can technically cook any type of hot dogs in the Instant Pot, but the cooking time will need to be adjusted depending on the type. For extra, most hot dogs are precooked, so they only need a little heat to make them safe to serve. Uncooked sausages, like bratwurst sausages, will need to cook under pressure for approximately 6 minutes before gently releasing the steam.

Is it safe to use high pressure for zero minutes?

Yes, it's safe! The pressure cooker's high-pressure setting with zero minutes is perfect for quickly heating the hot dogs without overcooking them.

Can I release pressure quickly after cooking?

For best results, use the quick-release method right after cooking to prevent overcooking and ensure your hot dogs retain their perfect texture.

What size of Instant Pot should I use?

The size of your Instant Pot doesn't matter; this recipe works well for both 6-quart and 8-quart models.
