❤️ Why you'll love it

If you've never made green beans in the air fryer, you'll be surprised at how easy and convenient it is. You only need a little oil for the green beans to turn out crispy and tender.

You also don't need a lot of spices to bring out the natural sweetness of green beans. And the best thing is that it is ready in just 10 minutes!

I use an air fryer for this recipe. If you are in the market for one, here is a list of the best air fryers that cost less than $100. I personally love my Ninja and Cosori air fryers, and I actually have both.

🧾 Ingredients Used

green beans, spices
  • Green beans: I use a pound of fresh green beans. You can get yours from your nearby grocery store.
  • Olive oil: You can use coconut oil, sesame oil, or your preferred cooking spray.
  • Spices: Black pepper, smoked paprika, and salt.

🔪 How To Make Air Fryer Green Beans

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400F.
  2. Trim the ends of the green beans. Rinse them under running water and pat them dry with a paper towel. You can also put them in a colander to remove excess water.
  3. Spray the green beans with olive oil and sprinkle the spices on them.
  4. Rub the spices all over the green beans.
  5. Arrange them in a single row in the air fryer basket or tray.
  6. Air fry for 10 minutes, shaking halfway.

🥫 Storing and Reheating

Leftover green beans can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge and will remain fresh for three to four days.

You can reheat the leftovers in an air fryer. Preheat the air fryer and reheat the green beans at 380F for two to three minutes. You can also use a microwave, but they might not be as crispy.

💭 Tips and Variations

  • You can grate some parmesan cheese on the green beans for some extra flavor.
  • Make sure you dry your fresh green beans before air frying so they crisp up nicely.
  • For extra crunchy green beans, dip them in an egg mixture with almond flour before air-frying. Almond flour is a low-carb substitute for all-purpose flour or panko breadcrumbs.
  • Add chili powder, red pepper flakes, or cayenne pepper for some heat. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, you can leave them out.
  • Be sure to taste the green beans before air frying to determine if they are seasoned to your liking.
  • Make sure to place the green beans in a single layer, and don’t overcrowd the basket.

👩‍🍳 Frequently asked questions

How long do green beans take to cook?

Green beans take about 10 minutes to cook in an air fryer. When done, they should be crisp and have a light golden brown color. Remember that cooking times will vary depending on the size and quantity of green beans you cook, your air fryer model, and the setting you use.

Is air frying actually healthier?

Air frying is healthier than frying in oil because less fat is used, and less oil is retained in air-fried food. However, the amount of fat in air-fried food depends on the quantity of oil used in the frying process and how the food is drained after cooking.
