I use an air fryer for this recipe. The air fryer is an excellent addition to any kitchen and can be used for various dishes. It is great for cooking meat, fish, chicken, or veggies.

You don’t need loads of oil to fry foods with an air fryer. Ingredients turn out crispy and flavorful and are so simple to make. Your whole family will enjoy the crispiness of the outer layer and the tenderness inside. It’s the perfect texture for green beans!

Also, this air fryer has a shorter cooking time. This is because it uses convection heat, which circulates hot air around the food. This provides even cooking and helps reduce the time needed to cook food.

I also love that veggies retain their nutrients and vitamins when cooked in the air fryer!

    🧾 Ingredients Used

    green beans, spices

You only need a few ingredients for this tasty side dish.

    • Green beans: I use a pound of fresh green beans. You can get yours from your nearby grocery store.
    • Olive oil: You can use coconut oil, sesame oil, or your preferred cooking spray.
    • Spices: Black pepper, smoked paprika, and salt.

🔪 How To Make This Recipe

    1. Preheat the air fryer to 400F.
    2. Trim the ends of the green beans. Rinse them under running water and pat them dry with a paper towel. You can also put them in a colander to remove excess water.
    3. Spray the green beans with olive oil and sprinkle the spices on them.
    4. Rub the spices all over the green beans.
    5. Arrange in a single row in the air fryer basket or tray.
    6. Air fry for 10 minutes, shaking halfway.

    🥫 Storing and Reheating

You can store leftover crispy green beans in an airtight container in the fridge. The seasoned green beans will remain fresh for three to four days.

You can reheat the leftover green beans in an air fryer. Preheat the air fryer and reheat the green beans at 380 F for two to three minutes. You can also use a microwave oven, but they might not be as crispy.

    💭 Tips and Variations

    • You can grate some parmesan cheese on the green beans if you’re not vegan.
    • Make sure you dry your fresh green beans before air frying so they crisp up nicely.
    • Make delicious garlicky green beans by throwing in garlic powder, among other spices.
    • You can also add lemon juice or lemon zest to the easy air fryer green beans recipe for a citrusy flavor.
    • For extra crunchy green beans, dip them in an egg mixture with almond flour before air frying. That’s a low carb substitute for all purpose flour or panko breadcrumbs.
    • Add chili powder, red pepper flakes, or cayenne pepper for some heat. If you’re not a fan of spicy food, you can leave them out.
    • Be sure to taste the green beans before air frying to determine if they are seasoned to your liking.
    • Make sure to place the green beans in a single layer, and don’t overcrowd the basket.

    👩‍🍳 Frequently asked questions

How long do green beans take to cook?

Green beans take about 10 minutes to cook in an air fryer. They should be crisp and have a light golden brown color when done. Remember that cooking times will vary depending on the size and quantity of green beans you cook. It also depends on your air fryer model and the setting you use.

    Is air frying actually healthier?

Air frying is healthier than frying in oil because there is less fat used in air frying. There is also less oil retention in air-fried food. However, the amount of fat in air-fried food depends on the quantity of oil used in the frying process and how the food is drained after cooking.
