❤️ Why you'll love it

I love that this recipe is so healthy, quick, and easy to prepare. It takes just a few minutes in the instant pot pressure cooker to make these incredibly moist and flavorful turkey wings. And it's made with easy pantry ingredients!

This is a great way to get your turkey fix without cooking a whole turkey during the holiday season. It's low in carbs and high in protein, which keeps you full for longer and contains loads of minerals and vitamins.

Another great thing about my favorite part of the turkey is that it's so versatile. You can use it as a base recipe or add your own spin with different spices and ingredients.

Next time, try these air fryer turkey wings for some crispy deliciousness!

I use an instant pot for this recipe. An instant pot is an electric pressure cooker that helps me save time and energy when cooking.

The instant pot allows me to cook food as well as steam and saute it, all in the same pot, which significantly reduces clean-up time.

Pressure cooking makes your food more delicious, moist, and irresistible all the flavors and moisture are trapped inside. It also cooks food 70% faster than many other cooking methods. So it's great for cooking foods that need a long cooking time.

🧾 Ingredients Used

turkey wings, olive oil, spices
  • Turkey wings: I use fresh turkey wings from the grocery store. You can also get your turkey from a butcher.
  • Olive oil: You can use your preferred cooking oil instead.
  • Aromatics: Onions and garlic.
  • Chicken stock: You can use homemade or store-bought chicken stock. If you don't have stock, you can use a cup of water instead but add more spices.
  • Spices: Chicken seasoning, smoked paprika, and cumin.

🔪 How To Make This Recipe

Here's how to make this easy recipe.

  1. Pour all the spices into a small bowl and mix them together. Then rub the spice mixture all over the wings as a dry rub marinade and set aside.
  2. Turn the instant pot to sauté mode and add a little oil.
  3. When heated, add the raw turkey wings and brown them on both sides.
  4. Take out the wings and add the chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté for a few minutes.
  5. Pour in the chicken stock and deglaze with a wooden spoon. This means scraping any bits stuck to the bottom of the pot.
  6. Turn the instant pot to manual mode, add the turkey parts in, then pressure cook for 20 minutes.
  7. Let it naturally release for 10 minutes when done, then do a quick release for the remaining pressure.
  8. Take the turkey wings out and turn the instant pot to sauté mode.
  9. To thicken, mix the arrowroot powder with water to make a slurry.
  10. Pour it into the instant pot and whisk for a few minutes.
  11. Add the turkey wings back and simmer for 4-5 minutes.

🥫 Storing and Reheating

You can store leftover turkey wings in the refrigerator for a few days. Make sure you place them in an air-tight container to remain fresh.

You can also freeze the leftover wings for up to 3 months. To do this, place it in a freezer bag or air-tight container before you freeze it.

You can microwave the wings or put them in the oven to reheat.

💭 Tips and Variations

  • Use unsalted butter instead of oil, or throw in some cheese or heavy cream for extra creaminess.
  • Make sure you check for doneness with a meat thermometer. An internal temperature of 165F will let you know that the wings are done and ready to be devoured.
  • Chicken stock usually contains some salt, so taste the sauce before adding any extra spices.
  • If you have a little more time, try marinating the turkey wings before cooking. The turkey wings turn out so much juicier.
  • This recipe will work for white or dark meat. Just substitute turkey wings for turkey thighs, turkey breast, or turkey drumsticks, but you might have to adjust the cooking time.
  • It is important to deglaze the instant pot by scraping the bottom. Deglazing will help prevent a burn notice and add more flavor to the dish.
  • Add your favorite herbs and spices like chili powder, onion powder, or fresh thyme.

  • Instant Pot Kale
  • Kenyan Collard Greens
  • Air Fryer Green Beans

👩‍🍳 Frequently asked questions

How do you cook a turkey in a pressure cooker?

To cook turkey wings in a pressure cooker, brown the wings in a bit of oil. Then, add some water and add any seasonings you like. Lock the lid on the pressure cooker and cook at high pressure for about 20 minutes. When the time is up, let the pressure cooker release naturally for about 10 minutes, then quickly release any remaining pressure. Remove the lid and check the wings to ensure they are cooked through.
