  • Chicken wings: Chicken wings are the star of this keto-friendly dish, known for their tender, juicy meat and delightful flavor. They're not only delicious but also a great source of protein, making them an excellent choice for those following a low-carb or keto diet.
  • Baking powder: When combined with the other ingredients, baking powder helps create a light and airy coating that mimics the crunch of traditional fried chicken.
  • Chicken seasoning: This chicken seasoning blend includes dried parsley, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, oregano, and black pepper.
  • Olive oil: This adds a rich, savory flavor to the chicken wings and contributes to the crispy texture when combined with baking powder.

🔪 How To Make Oven Fried Chicken

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). The high heat is key to achieving that crispy, fried-like texture.
  2. Rinse and pat dry your chicken wings.
  3. Whisk together chicken seasoning, olive oil, and baking powder in a large bowl.
  4. Thoroughly coat each chicken wing with the seasoning mix. Make sure each piece is evenly coated for the best flavor.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then, lay out your seasoned chicken wings on the rimmed baking sheet in a single layer, leaving space between each wing for proper air circulation.
  6. Pop the baking sheet into the preheated oven and bake the wings for 25 minutes on each side, till it is crispy and golden brown. The chicken should reach an internal temperature of 165°F.

🥫 Storing and Reheating

If you somehow manage to have leftovers, store these delicious wings in an airtight container in the fridge. To reheat, simply pop them back in the oven or air fryer at 350°F for about 10 minutes or until they're heated through and crispy again.

You can also reheat them in the microwave, but you'll get better results in the oven or air fryer.

💭 Helpful Tips

  • Choose skin-on wings: Opt for skin-on chicken wings to enhance the flavor and achieve extra crispiness when baking. The skin becomes wonderfully crunchy while keeping the meat juicy.
  • Double-check baking powder: Ensure that your baking powder is fresh and active. This step is important to get that coveted crispy texture, so don't skip it.
  • Cook on a rack: Placing a wire rack on the baking sheet can help elevate the wings, allowing hot air to circulate evenly to enhance the crispiness.
  • Add some spice: Feel free to customize the seasoning mix with a dash of your favorite spices.
  • To save some time, use this chicken wing marinade!

💭 Recipe Variations

  • Spicy keto wings: For a spicy kick, add sriracha or crushed red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix. Adjust the amount to suit your spice preference.
  • Preheat thoroughly: Make sure your oven is properly preheated before placing the wings inside. This ensures they start cooking at the right temperature for the best results.
  • Garlic parmesan wings: Create a keto-friendly garlic parmesan coating by mixing minced garlic and grated parmesan cheese with the seasoning blend. Bake as usual for a flavorful twist.
  • Lemon herb wings: Add a keto-friendly zing by incorporating lemon zest and dried herbs like rosemary, thyme, or oregano into the seasoning mix.
  • Buffalo keto wings: Toss your baked wings in a keto-friendly buffalo sauce made with butter and hot sauce for that classic buffalo wing experience.
  • Almond flour coating: If you're looking for an even crispier texture, dip the seasoned wings in a mixture of almond flour and spices before baking.

🍽️ What can I eat this recipe with?

These crispy wings are great on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce like this Spicy BBQ Sauce, Keto Buffalo Sauce, or African Pepper Sauce. If you don't want hot wings, try ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, or a creamy garlic aioli with these wings.

For a balanced meal, serve these crispy baked wings with low-carb sides like sautéed spinach, celery sticks, cauliflower rice, Broccoli Salad with Bacon, or Keto Coleslaw. You can also serve these with steamed or roasted vegetables - try these Instant Pot Steamed Vegetables, Air Fryer Frozen Brussels Sprouts, or Air Fryer Frozen Okra.

A hearty potato salad perfectly complements these wings, especially for a dinner party or game day. You can't go wrong with this Keto Cauliflower Potato Salad!
